Under title “Corruption victim” German newspaper “Tageszeitung” pays attention Tuesday (29.08) to the problems facing Albanian prosecutors when investigating dangerous networks. Arben Jorgaki is a Vlora prosecutor who has investigated the construction mafia networks. He also lost his job and now fears for life.
“taz” describes the prosecutor at the end of 30 as a modern, interested in art, which at first glance does not seem to fit into his profession. “But he is the prosecutor who takes the profession seriously and the government-propagand fight against corruption... Arben Jorgaki has the image of an unpolluted prosecutor... but in May of this year, the turn came. Jargaqi was fired. Evidently, he had drawn close to some powerful people. ”
Next “Tageszeitung” underlines that the Albanian prosecutor succeeded, even as a secret investigator, to discover, that criminals dressed in businessman's hot dress had manipulated files and property in the fight to secure the largest pieces of the Albanian coast.
“Procuroria, however, collected evidence and took the first shot. In May of this year, he demanded the arrest of several network members in question. To his surprise, however, the police did not react. Instead, she received a rebuke. Later he moved to Permet. ”
German newspaper reports on Albanian prosecutor Arben Jorgaki's clash with Vlora prosecution. The fight with authorities ended with its <x0->liation” from office and later with the removal of the mandate. Even protests in Tirana did not bring... The unwanted prosecutor stepped down before reform in justice from office. ”
300,000 euros in compensation
But the story of Arben Jorgaki is not over. It has received threats following the refusal of 300,000 euros as “compensation”. “Arbeni hid in Tirana and regularly changes residence. He fears for life... the only hope is for the Court of Appeals in Tirana to decide in his favour. But because of the high-level politicians' connections to the construction mafia network, he is skeptical.” / DW
