Closed debt - forgiveness deadlines are being forgiven

Kosovo Tax Administration (ATK), today, announced the deadline for pardoning public debts for legal and physical persons in Kosovo accumulated since December 31st 2008.

ATK officials call on citizens to use today as well, to apply for debt forgiveness, as more procedures start tomorrow.

ATK spokeswoman Valentina Bytyqi has said in the morning show at RTK, she said the debt forgiveness process has been relatively satisfactory, where hundreds of millions of ur have been pardoned, during two specific period of time in the law.

“The pardoning of debts is made in two periods. Well it was until 2008, meanwhile, the next period from 2009 to 2014, while as a share in pardoning debts ends today at 2:0018x1>, Bytyqi said. It has called on indebted citizens to target ATK sports to take advantage of the last resort.

After that, she said the law also envisions stopping interest, the RTK broadcasts. Bytyqi said that over the past two weeks, the number of citizens who have sought forgiveness of debts has increased. But she said that compared to the first period, until 2008, the number of applicants for forgiveness has been considerably greater. This has affected since it is no day, if the Kosovo government will make another decision to extend the deadline for public debt forgiveness. “have been pardoned 216m euros in debt, where 24.2m euros were contracted for 2015 and 2016. In 2017 alone, the Law for Forgiveness of Debt has benefited 2,393 taxpayers, and 3.2m euros have been collected. We've been able to clear the lists nearly 20 million euros. Otherwise, according to official data, by the beginning of this month, more than 350m euros in debt have been forgiven, while there are close to 600 thousand cases that have benefited from the pardon of debts from various state institutions and public enterprises. By contrast, according to statistics that have been given earlier, only in the Kosovo Energy Corporation with the Law on Forgiveness of Debt has been addressed 238,682 potential beneficiaries, where 121,897 consumers have thus far benefited. The amount of debts forgiven is about 40 percent of the entire debt.
