In Albania, the election campaign was held, an Albanian came to Albania to attract one of the highest decorations, such as the “Skenderbeu Order”.

It's not about an ordinary person, it's about the former National Trainer, Gianni De Biasi, who was at Top Story this Monday.

Sokol Balla: I've always wanted to take your interview as a coach, I'm already calling you a former coach. However, I believe all Albanians Gianni De Biasin will respect and honour for a very long period. Mister, a lot of people thought you'd be National coach forever, but it seems like every beginning has another end, doesn't it?

Gianni De Biasi, former National coach: There has come a moment when I believed I had given everything and I had no longer what I could give to the players. Everything has a beginning, but this was the moment.

Sokol Balla: What's your balance as a coach in quantity and quality in terms of our national football?

Gianni De Biasi: I believe that in these 52 games, I believe it was a very good balance. We left a difficult situation, even as far as the team is concerned. We had very few players and very few experienced players. We had to take a step and test our qualifications to the World of Brazil. The biggest problem was to create the group and then the results.

Sokol Balla: What do you think of the first contact to take the lead in the National?

Gianni De Biasi: The first contact was informative to learn what the Albanian reality was, from how football was lived and looked at, what football development was, because we talk about different mentality from the point of view of work. It was the desire not to enter directly but gradually.

Sokol Balla: That was probably why the first tour, the qualifying tournament, for Brazil 2014, went unnoticed. There were good results, but you held a low profile for the team itself.

Gianni De Biasi: We've done a very good part of our qualifications. We've had one in second place in the group. We made a beautiful victory in Norway, a beautiful match here with Slovenia. Then came the three immediate losses and the draw of Norway here, our dream of falling apart. However, they were not the conditions to go that far.

Sokol Balla: And then came the qualifications to France 2016. What Did You Decide to Change? What was wrong with the National Team, or did you knock on Albanian talent doors across Europe?

Gianni De Biasi: It was a gradual growth of the group. The quality of players and teams improved, and according to me, the fact that we found and mixed experiences with young players, but also to find talents in different championships across Europe. This was the essential and beautiful start on September 7, with the victory in Portugal. It was a victory that will last long in memory, victory with the team that was later named Europe champion. Even after our victory, Portugal was no longer defeated until the Cup's victory. Then we began to think that we could go to the European finals.

Sokol Balla: In the European until the last seconds it was the dilemma to qualify, after victory with Romania it would qualify Albania or Portugal, and then Portugal finished Europe's champion.

Gianni De Biasi: Unfortunately for us, we played the first games and the teams that played behind us knew the outcome they had to look for to qualify. We've started very badly against Switzerland. We were with 10 players, but we risked too much to match the match, against France to the extreme of the match we were 0-0. We're out of this European head.

Sokol Balla: In my book “Loja that changed Albania” I call you one of the factors that made the difference, but what did you find out in Albanian football and players that the trainers before you hadn't discovered or found?

Gianni De Biasi: I believe it was necessary to bring players a different organization where the team puts and evaluates the direct characteristics of players. This is not a big secret, but it's not easy to transmit the team and not always in technical and tactical terms balance and compatibility between players.

Sokol Balla: What's the innovation you brought, tactics, mentality, talent opening, or all three together?

Gianni De Biasi: I've been insisting on a great preparation in the tactical aspect of the match but also on preparation. Work with the team mentality to think you can handle this fight.

Sokol Balla: I remember your message after we drew Denmark to Elbasan, where everyone was upset about why we were even. I remember your message: “Sokol, here no one understands that a team like Albania, it doesn't matter to win, it matters not to lose”.

Gianni De Biasi: That match was crucial. We took advantage, but they had more qualities than we did and evened us up. However, we left them behind and were a very important result. The important thing was that we had to fight for results and look for qualifications.

Sokol Balla: Here, all Albanians, including me, are all the best prime ministers, better presidents, better trainers. If I was asked to credit Gianni De Bias, I would say the greatest credit is that he put Albania on the ground.

Gianni De Biasi: The important thing is always knowing to keep things normal in the team. This is one of Mourniho's skills, which takes all the criticism itself and leaves the team calm and free of criticism. That was also my debate. The coach needs to know what is entrusted to him, maintain pressure and problems, and convey to the players the qualities they have to enable everyone.

Sokol Balla: One of the things we've been impressed by, is the fact that during the preliminary phase, the national was almost no longer losing, and suddenly two consecutive losses arrive, the one with Serbia and the one with Portugal. Dramatic!

Gianni De Biasi: It was the hardest time for me. To have a clean, waste-free qualifications and to come to the two most important matches in your field and lose, with Portugal in the extra time and with Serbia, instead of thinking we don't get a goal, we thought about winning. I wanted victory too, but between winning and losing, we have to think about who we face. Draw was very important to us. We all attacked and scored first goal, all in the attack and scored second goal. So we went to the last match in Armenia, which was by no means easy.

Sokol Balla: Before we go to the match with Armenia, we return to the match with Serbia in Belgrade. I believe at that game you must have encountered the reality of the Balkans and the team you were running, right?

Gianni De Biasi: When we got to the airport, it was crazy. We've reached a place where there was a climate and mad tension. It was too much, but one day later I realized why these measures were taken.

Sokol Balla: What was your motive? Psychological terror of the team?

Gianni De Biasi: It was their attempt to control the situation because it was fear of attacks by various groups. From that point we've been very well protected. What was out of control was what happened inside the field. It was absurd. We've played in a completely difficult climate. You were there and you understand exactly what we've been through. Even after many years we'll remember what we've been through. UEFA should not put two teams in the same group.

Sokol Balla: As a well-known former Serie A player, who has run clubs under difficult conditions, you've seen in those horrible hours in Belgrade a regret you probably don't want to have been Albania's coach at that point?

Gianni De Biasi: Absolutely not! I believe I adapt very well because I have experienced such situations in Italy, but that night the only thing that bothered me was that I was afraid of getting fans into the field. It was something very scary. Everything could be expected at any moment. The thing that bothered me was that we were extremely protected at any moment from the police, but I probably realized later that it was very good.

Sokol Balla: We continue with that victory over Armenia. It's brilliant, but kind of unexpected, incredible. Who do you cost your victory to, yourself, the team, the federation? It was a long - awaited result, but unexpected for us.

Gianni De Biasi: I'm so generous! I cost everyone that success! My daughter, my wife, my fans and all who love my best. The fans who have suffered and have been on the road to our qualifications. It was the victory of all Albania, all of Albania, all of Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia, and beyond. It was a two-war victory that sets the example that if you enter, such goals can be achieved.

Sokol Balla: Why were you so sure we would qualify from the beginning? You've been optimistic from the beginning.

Gianni De Biasi: I remember the date very well. February 29, 2012, the first friendly match in Georgia. I had directed the players a letter, saying that if they had the strength to believe and follow me, they would naturally be the first to write the pages of Albanian football history. I think it's very important that you work with the psychological side of players, because inside you, if you think it's impossible for you to do it, then you can't do it. So I think it's very important to work with the psychological part of the players.

Sokol Balla: What's the biggest hostage you have from France's European?

Gianni De Biasi: I'm so sorry I lost to Switzerland in the debut match. A very late fight from us. A very special, very strange match. Two Jaka brothers were on the field, and many other players of rival Albanian origin. However, with what was seen in the field, the fact that we've played almost an hour with 10 players, as well as the case of Sadick and Gashi could have handled the game better, especially Gashi's case, which was an incredible case. It was the part that brought us home. But the team started to feel and had to stay on that tour. It was the very productive first part of our team.

Sokol Balla: That was when the big break with Taulant Jaka started?

Gianni De Biasi: Absolutely not! I often say something that I've never had a problem with a player. The problem is that the coach does such a task, not very comfortable and wants to convey and keep 23 players in good condition. 11 people play, the others have to sit on the pankia. If anyone thinks I'm personal, then he's got trouble with himself. It takes a team united, it has to be. If a person feels that he is better than others, he should do so in the field. I may even err in my choices, but my choices should be respected and accepted. Of course, those who enter as substitutes are also pleased, and those who go out are not pleased. We can't have two behaviors, other where we play and then when we don't play. Everybody's a team guy.

Sokol Balla: From that match, if I'm not mistaken in the other two matches Jaka has entered as a replacement, both with France and Romania, and then his minutes with the Nationals fell until that big break came. It seems that the cold had its origin. He's a very good player and that can't be discussed, right?

Gianni De Biasi: Good player! Like many other players in our nationals. After the match with Switzerland, he played little with France and did not play against Romania as a title. Later, he did not play title with Macedonia, Liechtenstein. With the latter, there was a technical choice that three days later we had a fight with Spain and I let him out to play title with Spain. In the match against Italy, against Israel in Elbasan, I didn't mean to cast it as a title because we have some instruments called GPS and in the physical issue, there was a physical condition inferior to others. That was why.

Sokol Balla: How do you expect his public statement to refuse to play with the National for how long you were coach?

Gianni De Biasi: I don't give a shit. It's a problem for her. Now it's been good that I left because even in the next four games he wouldn't play. In my opinion, if he didn't apologize to all the players and all the fans, he wouldn't come back. He's a player like everyone else. Albania will continue to play and win for Jaka. Football moves forward. Football is held on the balances of the group and I don't believe that the one for choosing it has left good taste in other players.

Sokol Balla: The way you speak shows that you were authoritarian in the dressing rooms and someone could ask if Gianni De Biasi ever sacrificed the quality on behalf of the group, the compact?

Gianni De Biasi: I love quality. I love players like Messy, Ronaldo, Modric, but we don't have them, because I would throw them all into the field. I try to tell the players they don't have such qualities and if they don't run, they're part of a group, organized games can't go anywhere. We need to think and ask to be deported so that we can do our best for the team.

Sokol Balla: It's always said that the trainers have a player. Who was Coach Gianni De Biasi's player? Every time I asked my reporters, Kukel told me.

Gianni De Biasi: It's true! The dome is one of them. Bulku was ahead. There was a coach in the field when he was a player. There are many others, Memushaj is another. For me, it's important that players give their best to help friends. I think we missed something from the personality part in the field, just like Lorik's part, charismatic in the field. We have lost much of his absence from this point of view. You can't buy personality, one has one.

Sokol Balla: You were a real hunter of Albanian talents and you made the largest acrobatics to attract players of Albanian origin. Is there a player of Albanian origin who has been held hostage who failed to wear a red fan, like Januzaj?

Gianni De Biasi: This case was the most amazing and strange case. There's another case. The player who played at Vilareali, Musacchio, who has now moved to Milan, who is of abalone origin. I've contacted him about the European Eliminators, then I recomputed him before the game with Spain because he played with Viloreal, if you want to play against Spain and he told me I decided to play for Argentina. It was his choice, free choice. I tried because it would be a very important player for our nationals. He didn't show up and we're moving on.

Sokol Balla: The fact that Kosovo has its own representative was initially seen as a magnet that could attract players and leave quality players like Rasica and Berisha wearing the Kosovo fanele. Do you think this “has passed” for the Red National?

Gianni De Biasi: I don't think the players that were in the Europeans are going to change with fans. There will be problems for the future for those who have to choose, because it was earlier simpler since Kosovo was not a member of FIFA and UEFA. It was easier for us to take. I believe we have the opportunity to work the same way because there are many Albanian footballers growing up. As long as it belongs to players in here, it must continue to work with the academy.

Sokol Balla: You've made your role as selective. You have chosen the best players and players who adapt better to Albanian football schemes, which is modest. But how far can this national football go if it's not based on the local championship, which continues to have modest contributions to the National?

Gianni De Biasi: Since I arrived in Albania five and a half years ago, I can say that the Albanian championship has risen to its level. Skenderbeu went all the way to Europe League. I think the National should find its own spaces for the Albanian championship, but even the championship should produce something more. It's a process that takes its time. I believe that if you continue to work hard, you find your way to the Nationals.

Sokol Balla: You are mentioned in Skenderbe, but Skenderbe's success was also tarnished by his sentence, whether by U. EFA, as well as the Discipline Commission, takes the title champion of the year it is accused of selling the matches. How threatened is football by bets and is it a real threat to Albanian national football?

Gianni De Biasi: I think as long as bets are legalized and they become sponsor parts, I think there's a demand for a very big risk with a narrow difference between making things nice and not very clear. I think Skenderbeu is a very serious society that has done a very good thing in Albanian football and that found considerable room in international football, but that was later found to blame for unrecognizable situations and that pave the way for different speculations.

Sokol Balla: Have you had any pressure or offers to sign out bad players?

Gianni De Biasi: Absolutely not! I said it in more than one interview. I had room to do my job in everything. Our team has never been declared and never mentioned in such debates.

Sokol Balla: Let's get back to the current situation. Why in these qualifications for the Russian world, our team didn't shine? It was the European syndrome, it was kind of tired, satisfying? What happened?

Gianni De Biasi: I believe above all that the European was the maximum for us. At the end of the Europeans, I was in a dilemma to continue or return to my home. But I thought this team still had the chance to grow up and despite the difficulties. True, in the match against Macedonia, if things did not go the way they went, we were in danger of losing or getting even, because we went to the advantage and didn't end the match. Fortunately the match was suspended and won the next day. We could win more easily against Macedonia. With Italy and Spain, our mistakes deepened their advantage. The problem was losing Israel at home. A strange loss with many episodes. I'm so glad I won the 0-3 in Israel because I had the snare in my throat and I told the players that. I was hoping we could win 4-0. But I'm so glad we're in third place right now after Italy and Spain. More of this team couldn't do. True, at special times we were not deployed as a team.

Sokol Balla: What do you think most of the game in Palermo, the loss or the behavior of fans?

Gianni De Biasi: I never like losing! You might lose against Italy, but what gives me trouble is the first goal, that weird penalty and that we didn't score in the first minute. We could have used that opportunity a lot better. We're a team to live with these episodes. We have to stay 100 percent, but that's not easy. What made me uncomfortable and upset was the moment he broke my balances, it was the fans. The party I saw in Genoa didn't happen in Palermo. I know that Albanian fans, many are fans with Italy and many are working and living there, that situation I didn't like at all, first because I played in my house, but also because the image of us Albanians, we Albanians, because a good part of my heart remains here, I will always be a friend of Albanians and of anyone who helped me and not. I'm grateful to everyone.

Sokol Balla: I was both in Belgrade and Palermo, and at the moment of the Albanian anthem, in Palermo all Italian fans applauded. It was an opposite show with that of Belgrade. However, it seems there is a difficult report with organised fan groups, why does the National or Federation have this kind of report when Albanian football continues to be in the best days?

Gianni De Biasi: I don't know! I haven't been able to get into such situations. I've had good reports with fans. That aspect of Italy and someone explained to me that it was a form of protest because in the match against Israel in Elbasan they had been treated strangely, however, in Italy we should have behaved completely differently. Here in Albania I've found people who can go out with their heads up, I've felt really good. Only for that episode do I have bitter taste, while for the rest, cheerleading has always given us a very good hand and was our 12th player in the field.

Sokol Balla: You decided to leave after your victory with Israel and said that this team could do so, so far it can reach. Is that a little selfish? Shouldn't you have stayed to the end and guaranteed us third place?

Gianni De Biasi: I see it another way. I think I did an act of generosity and accountability to the Federation and fans. I had arrived at a point after losing to Luxembourg and decided I had to leave. It was a match we had to win at least 4-0, not lose 2-1. There I have “massacrated” players and spent a terrible week and this was seen in the victory with Israel. I had put it before the game with Israel and thought that if another coach came, the players would have new reasons to join. However, it is the same window. I say the same thing, working psychological with players. So I gave the new coach the opportunity that with the remaining matches in September and October, the federation to bring a new coach to recognise the players and plan the next eliminations, because I think Albania should go to the 2020 European finals and if the project starts now, it can go.

Sokol Balla: However, you said that you would stay to the end and suddenly the next day decided to leave immediately. What happened in those 24 hours?

Gianni De Biasi: I haven't spoken to the president of the Federation yet. I talked to him and we decided to hold together the press conference and with a precise question asked, I said that at the end of these electorates, you're going to renew, I said no. And that same day in the match with Israel I said the same thing, not because I couldn't say because I had to speak to the president first and the president was aware of my decision.

Sokol Balla: There are many rumors and rumors about your report with President Duke. It's said that you've had a strong fight at certain times, is it true?

Gianni De Biasi: With the president? Never! Rather, there are certain things written down, and he has given me his support and satisfaction in continuing my work together. We had great relations. Of course, when we lose our fight he's not happy, but neither am I. The thing I've always liked is that President Duke never asked me for anything, never asked me about a player who I took, who I put in the field, who's gonna pile up. That was one aspect that I felt very comfortable and very immune, and I thank the President for that.

Sokol Balla: However, you said the Federation did not have the will to renew the contract. Did something affect your decision?

Gianni De Biasi: I just said that if the Federation was to seek renovation with me, it couldn't wait for the last four matches. However, this is a discussion I made to prepare the grounds of a day later that I would say things that I knew. I said that if the federation wanted to continue with me, it would have told me earlier where I even set the example of Germany. I believe there's been a misunderstanding about this, but from the point of view of the reports with the President, it's been very good reports and I repeat this. I am always at the side of President Duke, with whom I feel excellent reports and if he needs advice from me, I am willing to give and I hope that at the business level, he should give me some advice.

Sokol Balla: If Mr. Duke asked you what name you would like to have followed, there have been many names that have been circulated, since Tramezzani, Roberto Carlos, Walter Zenga has been self-offed....

Gianni De Biasi: I believe President Duka has found a way to find a coach all these years. Finally, he found a guy who did something. I think the President has the ability to know people very well. I remember our first meeting in Milan in 2011, and I remember the way we had our conversation with him. President Duka is an extraordinary businessman. You never take the first step before you take it. I think he has experience and personality to find a good coach for Albania.

Sokol Balla: You come from hard work with Albania with a modest football you took to the top of the European football. You probably want to rest, but the fact is that you have already been released from the contract with the Albanian Federation at the peak of the summer merkatos. Any temptation? Any offers? Are you going to continue with a national or a club? What are you gonna do now?

Gianni De Biasi: Let's just say that as soon as I quit, all of merkato's situations have been closed to Italy, Spain, England. I resigned at a time when there wasn't much movement. However, from September and October start changes, any club or federation.

Sokol Balla: Arabia has been mentioned.

Gianni De Biasi: But it's true they made me a very good economic offer. I wish I had another option to be honest. However, even if I rest, I will be very satisfied because I need it very much.

Sokol Balla: What do you remember from these six years in Albania? Something that surprised you.

Gianni De Biasi: I'm an elephant, remember everything! I remember the first day that I came here, many beautiful and bad situations, difficult situations. What I remember is that these five years left immediately. I came here five and a half years ago and I decided to close it because I thought the road was closed and I want to leave it holding a very beautiful memory. My hope remains that this is an extraordinary earth, and in tomorrow it can cross our roads again.

Sokol Balla: You hope for a return?

Gianni De Biasi: I tell you now... but never say anything in your life. I haven't done things in my career on this level in my life. Even in Modenna, everyone comes back, but I've been gone a long time and never came back. I'm very close to this place and I call it our country.

Sokol Balla: What do you lack less from Albania besides Dritan Shakohodja?

Gianni De Biasi: People's hospitality, willingness to help me, climate <x0naire”, but very beautiful, I'm going to miss Albanian cuisine, I'm going to miss youth here and all this vitality, a beautiful reality that I've felt very good about.

Sokol Balla: The moment we won't forget was the match with Switzerland that we saw you hug with Tramezan and sing the Albanian anthem. It was a wonderful thing.

Gianni De Biasi: It was the first fight, and we were very charged. We wanted to score even though Switzerland had a better team. Although the result did not come, the desire to defeat it was.

Sokol Balla: Do you have the Albanian passport?

Gianni De Biasi: Always!

Sokol Balla: It's the passport you received after you got back from the Europeans.

Gianni De Biasi: It is a diplomatic passport that Prime Minister Rama gave to me and the team and it was a very good act and makes you feel a very good act. Although I used to have a normal passport.
