Scientists from the United States of America (SHBA) found that people who sleep longer than nine hours a day are prone to anxiety, reports Anadolu Agency (AA).
A group of researchers from Oxford University, head of Stephanie Rek, conducted a study involving 846 people.
Researchers asked the participants how often there have been anxieties over the past two weeks and how bad they have been. Those surveyed have proved that they are most often anxious because of worry about taking some false step.
In this way they have concluded that stress and sleep distress are the cause of anxiety. In addition, it has proved that over nine hours of sleep increases the likelihood of anxiety.
Rex pointed out that excessive sleep increases the REM phase, the sleep of the rapid eye movement, while this is the period when people have the most common anxiety.
The study did not confirm how anxious the effects of alcohol use or physical activity can be.
