Rome is said to have met with Riyadh Mahres agent, but Leicester City requires about 55m euros for Algerian services.
Gialoros have been linked to the midfielder with the offensive Algerian traits in recent days, as they look to replace Mohammed Salan after his transfer to Liverpool.
According to Leggo, Rome's sports director, Monchi met yesterday ( Thursday) with Algeria's front agent to prepare the grounds for an official offer.
The English club is asking for about 55m euros, but Rome hopes to lower it to 35-40m euros, as Mahrez has made it clear he wants to leave Fox.
