Researchers hope to test the vaccine, potentially considered revolutionary for humans.
The vaccine was developed by the Scripps (TSRI) Research Institute in California, and it is the first of its kind to pass through the testing phase, providing hope to millions of dependents worldwide.
The hope is that by blocking euphoric sentiment, users will not be motivated to take drugs.
Four monkeys who were given three doses of vaccines showed an effective response in neutralizing different doses of heroin. The vaccine was more effective in the first month, but could last more than eight months.
Furthermore, two of the four monkeys who were pre-tested with the same vaccine seven months ago showed a much higher response to treatment for the second time.
