Releasing bread, pasta, carbs, and replacing them with a low - calories diet affects weight loss, but experts warn of anxiety signs and mood change if you do so.
Australian dietologist Lyndi Cohen says that when we choose not to have carbohydrates in our diet, emotions vary dramatically, as carbohydrates release positive chemicals in our body.
When your brain does not get enough, or does not produce enough of these chemicals, it may cause depression, which is one of the main reasons to maintain a balanced diet that includes all food groups”, she said.
There's a connection between what we eat and feel and Cohen says it's the brain that chooses what to eat and when, it's important to both mental health and healthy lifestyle.
If you reduce carbohydrates and experience anxiety and depressive feelings as a result, you are less likely to exercise, eat well and care for yourself”, she says.
