It is known that sugar in soft drinks and candy favors obesity and diabetes, but is it harmful to mental health?
One study suggests that this input has a greater impact on men, but many researchers view these conclusions with scepticism.
According to this study recently published by “magazine Scientific Reports”, men with higher sugar consumption through foods like candy or gas drinks risk 23 percent more to develop mental disorders as depression or anxiety crises over the next five years.
Our “Studies suggest that sugar consumption by food or drink has an impact on long-term psychological health, and that lowering the amount is related to better psychological health”, writes research authors at “University College London (UCL).
None of these two statements are justified by the results of the study, which are limited by some aspects”, argues an independent expert, dietologist Catherine Collins, spokeswoman for the British Dietology Association.
