The meeting is believed to be the first private meeting confirmed between a Russian citizen and a member of Donald Trump's interior district, the Express broadcast.
A special prosecutor is investigating whether Trump co-operating secretly with the Russians to influence last November's US presidential election.
Trump Jr was accompanied by the president's son-in-law, Jared Kouchner, and then Trump's campaign chief Paul J Manafort, during the meeting with Natalia Veselnitskaya at the Trump Tower in New York on June 9th, two weeks before Trump secured the nomination for president from the republican ranks.
In a media communiqué, Trump Jr said they had discussed a suspended programme for Americans for adopting Russian children.
There was no question about the campaign at the time and there was no continuation,” he said.
