The security of numbers has turned into the most important part of political calculations on the eve of Constituve session of the Kosovo Assembly on August 3rd.
Coalition P AN ( PDK, AAK and Initiative as subject June 11th parliamentary elections winnerHe's expected to face two battle points about creating numbers. First, at the constitutional session, it seeks to find the support of MPs for the election of the Parliament Speaker, who according to all election mathematics is entitled to be proposed by the coalition.
Under the Constitution, “the Speaker of the Parliament is nominated by the largest parliamentary group and elected with the majority of votes of all MPs in the Assembly”.
PDK and coalition PAN are aiming to get 61 votes and more, both for the election of the Speaker of the Parliament and for the new Government.
But, without the election of the Speaker of the Assembly, no other procedure about forming institutions will continue.
MP PDK, Enver Hoxhaj has expressed more than convinced UN will have numbers to elect the Speaker of the Parliament on August 3rd.
“We will have sufficient numbers to select the Speaker of the Parliament and, in turn, the preferred candidate is Kadri Veseli, but wait on August 3rd, since by this date, the words we say will actually be”, Hoxhaj said.
According to him, the facts are that the coalition PAN has the majority to propose the Speaker of the Parliament, so after his election, it will also proceed with the election of the prime minister and the new government.
However, unlike Hoxhaj, representatives of other subjects in the Assembly, those of the Vetevendosje Movement and deputies from the Democratic League of Kosovo coalition with the New Kosovo Alliance and the Alternative, respectively.
The elected MP, Mimoza Kusari-Lila from Alternative, who is part of the coalition with LDK, thinks the coalition The PDK-AAK-Nisma does not have the numbers for choosing the chairman of the new Parliament and Government.
In line with LDK's stances, but even parties in the coalition, The AKR and the Alternative, Kusari-Lila, have said they will not vote Kadri Veselini for the top officer, nor Ramush Haradinaj for prime minister.
“Kadri Veselini has done everything to have Government (Mustafa) collapse and they take over”, Mimoza Kusari-Lila has said, rationalising the position against his election to the post of first Parliament.
While LDK-elect MP Driton Selmanaj has spoken precisely about numbers policies, ironising.
When it comes to numbers, you realize they're talking about phone numbers, shoe numbers, but not people”, he said.
“into no variant with PDK”, he said, adding that “Kosovas needs a stable government”.
Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has called the Constitutional Assembly session for August 3rd. In this session, verification of MPs' mandates is expected to be made, the oath taken and the chairman and vice-presidents elected.
Next, the 15 - day phase of government formation begins. Based on election outcome, this right belongs to coalition P AN ( The PDK, AAK and Initiative as the winner of the elections. This coalition has run for prime minister AAK leader Ramush Haradinaj.
At least 61 MPs are needed for the formation of the government. / REL/
