Many people are concerned that the crash, on a sidewalk, is the worst thing about their knees.
But running is not a single sport that risks damaging knots according to scientists.
Weightlifting and playing soccer long distances are able to increase the risk of suffering from three to seven times osteoarthritis on their knees.
This is compared to basketball players, boxers and track and field athletes, researchers found, from Queensland.
The study, published in the Journal of Athleic Training, focused on professional athletes, suggesting that the impact would not be so severe for the average person playing sports several times a week.
However, research points out that some sports differ with each other as to the damage to the joints.
