The LDK makes the decision: No PAN, no VV

Coalition PAN (The Democratic Party of Kosovo, Alliance for the Future of Kosovo and Initiative) as winner in the June 11th elections, has in some cases warned that it would have LDK part of the future coalition. Likewise, the Vetevendosje Movement, as the subject that has emerged in second place from elections, expects the opportunity to form Government if the coalition is to form the coalition. PAN fails. The VV has warned that the coalition could form with the LDK. But, LDK officials now said there is no interest in entering coalitions.

Agim Veliu, deputy chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, says they are expecting parties that have received the largest number of votes to form Government in co-operation with minorities.

They have numbers. We are expecting the PAN, along with Vetevendosje and the Serbian List and other minorities to form Government. These are the ones who brought down the government. These are the ones that are together and we are waiting to form the government. We are not given that option”, Veliu said. “I'm a follower of what we do best to remain in opposition rather than enter variants that are not favourable for LDK”!

But by coalition PAN, also from the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo as part of this coalition, says they count on the coalition with the LDK, respectively. Pal Lekaj, deputy chairman of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, says that “have the votes” and that Haradinaj is willing to co-operate and also negotiate with LDK, to have a more stable and functional government”.

Commenting on the LDK officials' statements that they do not want to enter coalitions with parties that already claim to form Government, Lekaj said that in politics “should not be held in resentment, but should be thought of the country's interests”.

Likewise, the Vetevendosje Movement claims it will form Government, believing that the coalition PAN will not fail to secure the minimum of 61 votes in the Assembly. The Vetevendosje movement expects to have coalition partner LDK along with other parties that are part of it.

We believe that people have voted for changes. Vetevendosje movement has become the largest party, whereas The PDK has been sent to the opposition. We need to get together so after the new place we have a new government. Looks like Mr. Veliu has confused things, starting a campaign for local elections in Llap”, Tinka Kurti said from the media office in Vetevendosje.

After announcing the final results of early elections for the Republic of Kosovo Assembly, held on 11 June by the Central Election Commission, political party representatives say they have not yet established post-election coalitions for the establishment of the country's new government.
