Italy's prime minister, Paolo Gentillon, has warned the European Union that it will be in danger if it continues to leave it outside the Western Balkans.
During the summit in Trieste, he has said the EU should keep the door open for Western Balkan membership, as its countries should eventually join the EU because they are endangered by the rise in Russian influence and other world powers.
