The United States has imposed new sanctions against 18 individuals and entities due to their support for Iran's ballistic missile programme and other military activities.
The sanctions come a day after Washington has confirmed that Iran is acting in line with the 2015 nuclear agreement.
With this deal with six world powers, Iran has agreed to reduce nuclear activities in exchange for easing international sanctions.
The US Treasury Department said on Tuesday that the new sanctions hit 18 entities and individuals for “commitment to support Iranian illegal actors or transnational criminal activities”.
This administration will continue to aggressively hit Iran's mountain activity, including continued state support for terrorism, ballistic missile programme and human rights abuses”, Treasury Secretary Steven T said. Mnuchin.
US State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said Iran is testing and developing ballistic missiles in direct opposition to a UN Security Council resolution.
