Hyseni: Kosovo newest Interpol member

The General Assembly of Interpol meeting held in China in September is expected to give the decision on Kosovo's membership in the structure of this international organisation.

Acting Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Skender Hyseni has told Indexline that Kosovo is expected to be the organisation's newest member.

Hyseni, who is currently on official visit to Interpol headquarters in Lyon, France, has confirmed that she has received the full support of its head, Secretary General Jurgen Stock, who has been divided satisfied with Kosovo's achievements.

The Kosovo application for membership has now entered the general assembly's agenda for September, where this assembly will vote on the Kosovo application. But prior to that, new membership criteria must be approved. We have met the criteria required, our app is complete we have submitted every document that has been requested by us, to meet Kosovo's demand legally, but politically, so that it remains with Kosovo institutions, the Foreign Ministry and the Interior Ministry, the Government, our embassys working through September as long as we can muster as many votes”, Hyseni said.

Meanwhile, asked how he views the mood of member states, whose vote is valid in this case, Hyseni has stressed that in Interpol they are satisfied with the work Kosovo institutions have done.

“General Secretary of Interpol Jurgen Stock is extremely pleased with our achievements, so the expectation that was made today at Interpol was very warm and we discussed in detail the preparation of Kosovo for membership, in terms of the professional and technical preparation of the Kosovo Police to join this body”, Hyseni said at the end.
