EU Deputy Alternative Officer for Germany and the philosopher Marc Jongen has said that if Serbia would accept EU requirements for recognition of Kosovo, as a condition for Serbia to continue its path towards EU integration, it would have a high price.
“It is difficult to give advice now, but in this case I think Serbia should decide by referendum whether to pay that price”, he has said of the daily “Politika”, Periscopi broadcast.
Commenting on the targets set by Brussels and estimates that Belgrade is not respecting the EU's foreign policy course, not imposing anti-Russian sanctions, the German opposition politician has cautioned Serbia not to succumb to pressures.
“If I could advise Serbia, I would tell you not to flow before pressures and not implement sanctions against Russia. Your country needs to maintain good relations with Russia and stand on the ground, because this is important to your economy”, Jongen said.
Jongen has said it is very important for the EU to see Serbia as a bridge connecting Europe to Russia.
It is not good to destroy all bridges between Europe and Russia”, he said.
The Jongen Party, based on polls, will not be able to enter Parliament in the upcoming elections to be held in Germany. /Periscopi/
