The UN Security Council (KS-OKB) will hold an emergency session Monday aimed at reducing tensions in Jerusalem.
The meeting was called at the request of Sweden, France and Egypt, confirmed on Sweden's permanent envoy to KS- UN, Olof Scoog.
The purpose of the session is to find a solution to the situation in Jerusalem.
The crisis escalated Friday morning, when Israeli police killed three Palestinians before and in the Al-Axa complex, where it all resulted in general unrest in which several people were injured, including two Israeli policemen who passed away on their way to the hospital.
Israeli police later ordered the closure of the Al-Axa complex, while Palestinians for the first time since the 1967 invasion of Friday prayer pardoned it outside the walls of the old city.
From Friday to Monday, local Muslim residents could not enter the Al-Axa complex, while Israeli police later deployed additional checkpoints with metal detectors. For these reasons, Palestinians refuse to enter the mosque complex and pray they perform in the streets.
