The British foundation “reming Srebrenica” from Great Britain has organised an evening honouring the victims of the Srebrenica massacre. Angeline Jolie will be one of the speakers in this event.
Jolie has several times talked around the world about the genocide that Serb forces in Srebrenica caused, broadcasts the Kosovo Clan. She had even visited the memorial center in Potocari.
This event will be held just when 22 years of the worst mask in Europe since World War II. It was 1992 when Serbia started fighting in Bosnia. In April 1995 The United Nations organisation declared Srebrenica in Bosnia's northeast as the “zone secure”. The zone was guarded by UN peacekeepers, known as the “Blue scripts”. Despite this, on July 11, 1995, more than 8,000 unarmed civilians were executed in Bosnian Serbenica. Even today, thousands of Bosniaks but also people worldwide gather today to remember the fallen. 22 years after the murders, mass graves continue to be found.
The identification of the victims is difficult, since the bodies had been torn apart by explosives that were thrown into the grave. And every year on 11 July, the remains of those identified during the last year are buried at the Potocari Memorial Centre.
