The World Health Organization warns that cases of infection by this super - resistant bacteria are on the rise because of the decline in condom use and oral sex in an uncertain way.
Data from 77 different countries in the world shows that it is now harder and perhaps even impossible to treat sexually transmitted diseases, as more and more bacteria are gaining resistance to antibiotics.
Gonorrhea spreads from performing vaginal, anal and oral sex without protection. The World Health Organization discovered these occasions as it published details about several studies on forms of sexually transmitted diseases that are more resistant to drugs.
Experts warn that “is a matter of time” for antibiotics against gonorrhea to be out of use.
Theodore Wi, a reproductive health specialist, says: “Gonorrhea is a very clever virus. Every moment a new type of antibiotic is introduced for its treatment, this virus develops resistance to it”.
According to WHO, about 78 million people are affected by gonorrhea annually a sexually transmitted disease. The infection, which in many cases does not manifest symptoms by itself, can lead to development of pelvik inflammation, ectopic pregnancy (when a sterilized egg is implanted outside the womb), infertility, and the risk of contracting HIV.
Wi reports that one of two studies of gonorrani published in PLOS Medicine magazine has a documentary of three specific cases in Japan, France and Spain of patients affected by gonorrhea where no antibiotic has taken effect.
These are cases that can infect other people. You can transmit”.
