Guardia di Financa has thus destroyed an Italian-Albanian group of international narcotics trafficking, while it seized more than 3.5 tonnes of cannabis, whose value at the market, is estimated at about 35m euros, local media reports today.
It is an organisation of 14 people, including four Albanians, all arrested.
The criminal group carried out transport, distribution, sales and delivery of narcotics, mainly marijuana coming from Albania.
According to Italian media, Albanians in handcuffs under the operation code-named “Grico” are Vaso Macshi, 39, Shfcif Muho 33 and Leonard and Emilian Bufi, 36 and 31.
The Lece Antimafia Directorate had launched investigations into this group since August 2016, while weapons and ammunition have also been seized during operations.
According to investigators, who have seized 2 other vessels, except the Adriatic allegedly traffickers have also used land routes to transport hashish from Albania to Italy.
