The world's population will be here in 2018

The global population is expected to reach about 7.6 billion people early next year, the German World Population Foundation (DSW) announced today.

The institute expects the total number of people on Earth to reach approximately 791,41,000 on 1 January.

Last year, the population increased by 83 million, or approximately the population of Germany.

The number of people in Africa is expected to rise especially rapidly in the coming decades.

The population of this continent is expected to reach 2,53 billion inhabitants by 2050, from the current 1.26 billion.
