With the new thermal power plant provided heat for residents of Fushe Kosovo, Obilik and Drenas

Construction of the “New Kosovo thermal power plant has been promoted by the Government and as a project guaranteeing doubling the heating capacity, since its steam will be able to put to use heat “Termokos” as it now uses it from existing thermal power plants.

Directors of the Ministry of Economic Development, who have signed the agreement on building the “New Kosovo”, say that with this enough central heating project, there will be not only for residents of Pristina, but also for those of Fushe-Kosovo, Obilic and Drensas, “Koha Ditore<13> today.

So far, however, only 20 percent of Pristina residents are locked up in the new heating system, and the multimillion-euro network expansion project, which with existing steam capacity, can provide heating for the same residents of the capital, it has been formalised for two years but has not yet begun to apply in practice.

Director of “Termokos” now promises that the heating network expansion project with existing capacities will be completed over the next two years.

Economic Development Minister Valdrin Luqaj, on the day of signing the contract for the construction of the “New Kosovo thermal power plant, has said this is the first investment in the generation of new capacities since the 1980s and guarantees energy stability for the country, as well as doubling Pristina's central heating capacities with the environment.
