The case is known in the opinion as “Monstra”.
The Supreme Court ruling follows the 3 October verdict on the retrial of this case, which for about five years has triggered numerous protests and reactions to the opinion.
The Supreme Court has imposed other security measures for the convicts, such as the failure of the settlement they live in, as well as to appear twice a week at the Skopje Criminal Court.
The release from Agim Ismailovici prison, Feyzi Ashir, Hakki Asyri and Sami Luta comes at the request of the prosecution for the case's retrial, due to the presentation of new evidence that these people could clear of charges of killing Macedonians.
Two others charged with the work, Alil Demiri and Africa Ismailovic, are on the run.
Those arrested for this case have been consistently declared innocent, while a Council founded on their defence has insisted that the case is designed for political purposes of the past government, or the distraction of attention from other current problems.
It's a victory of all those who are committed to coming to this moment. It is the first step that took place towards the dawn of the case, and we hope that this nightmare will end and the truth will come to the surface, both for our families and the family of the victims, because they too want justice or know the true perpetrators of their sons' death”, has declared Bedri Aydar by the convicted family council.
That convicts are innocent several times have said then opposition leader Zoran Zaev, Macedonia's current prime minister.
He in some presentations has promised that he will do his best to make the truth clear through justice institutions about the Smilkovca murder.
