The statue of Leo Mess, located at “Passeo de las Glorias” of Buenos Aires, was the victim of a vandalism attack. She presented herself Sunday with her legs cut off. This is the second act of vandalism suffered by this inaugurated statue on June 28, 2016, on the southern coast of Argentina's capital. [...]
The first time it happened in January this year and suffered damage. This realistic image of sculptor Carlos Benavidez will be transferred to the City Monuments and Acts of Art to return as before Monday.

“Passeo de las Glorias” is a public place where statues of the leading sportsmen of Argentina, such as basketball player Manu Ginobili, former tennis players Guillermo Villas and Gabriela Sabatin, former street player Hugo Porta, former hockey player Lucianana Aymar, golf champion Roberto De Vicenzo, former Posttal Persual Persuas and ex-pilot Permul 1, Juan Manuel Fang. This space was created under preparations for next year's Youth Olympics, to be held at Buenos Aires. The police said they had no information on the author's identity. In January the monument was cut in half from the waist until it was repaired and restored by the city government days later.

“The statue was the victim of a vandalism”, the city's secretariat of culture said then. The statue was rediscovered in June, shortly after Argentina lost the “final The Coma America” in the final against Chile, with penalty, a loss that caused Leo Messin to say he was leaving the national team. Barcelona football player is very dear in his homeland. Barcelona's star, however, has its critics, especially those who criticise the Messy performance for Argentina, with which it has lost three major finals in two years, including the 2014 World Cup.
