Representatives of the KLA Council for the Protection of Veterans' Rights are seeking from the Government of Kosovo that all veterans of the Kosovo Liberation Army (UÇK) who are employed in state institutions are paid 50 per cent of the veteran's pension.
But, on the other hand, representatives of the Kosovo government are opposing that.
Jevdet Qrerici, chairman of the KLA Veterans' Rights Council, has told the newspaper “Voice” that they have demanded that 50 percent of the pension be given to veterans who are in working relations. “We've demanded that 50% meet those who work, because even those who work have made a contribution”, he said.
The government further said it does not comply with the Law on War Veterans, since the Commission for the Veterians has not been working directly, with the large number of them increasing in large measure to receive pensions from the state budget. We have requested a known law for war veterans. If it was working straight, I'm convinced this budget wouldn't have been meant for these categories, but a much smaller budget would have been spent. But unfortunately, it did. We have asked for rights for war veterans and if the Commission had worked directly I don't think half of this budget would have been used in that direction”, he said.
