Opposition calls Thaci's threat good news that political scene could remain without it

“Threatening” of republic President Hashim Thaci that the political scene will remain without it, unless the election law is changed for the president to be elected by the people or by a simple majority in the Assembly, they have called good news deputies of the Kosovo Assembly.

They have not even hesitated to name it the worst public figure Hashim Thaci, to which they attribute the country's bad image, KTV reports.

Vjosa Osmani, who is LDK MP, has said that this very move of Thaci needs Kosovo, until it has called it absurd for the Parliament to change the president's procedures to choose with a simple majority.

Meanwhile, Vetevendosje MP Albulen Haxhiu has rejected both ideas, even for the choice to be done in a simple majority, even to be done directly by the people.

It says that as it is with two-thirds is in order and that the people cannot be resolved because Kosovo is the parliamentary Republic.

Even Deputy Alternative Ilir Deda has welcomed this president's statement. He says it's best to stop being head of state. According to him, he would not even have to be chosen.

Both at the recent conference with journalists and in the annual speech before MPs, President Hashim Thaci has indicated he has not given up electoral reform and has even declared it will be completed in the first 60 days of 2018.
