Criticism erupts of a historical figure between Erdogan and United Arab Emirates

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has attacked United Arab Emirates Foreign Minister (UAE) Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan on charges against Fahreddin Pasha, a commander in the Ottoman Empire during World War I, for “plachchije” of Medina in 1916. The poor “are in a fraud that can say [...]
The poor “are in a fraud such as can say without a shame that Erdogan's predecessors have stolen the holy relic from Medina and have brought it to Istanbul,” said Erdogan on December 20th.
His comments came after al-Zayed had written on his Twitter on December 16th criticising the historic ties between the Ottoman Empire and the Arab nations, accusing Fahreddin Pasha of committing crimes against the people during the siege of Medina in 1916, reports “Hurriyet Daily News”, the Periscopi broadcast.
“Fahreddin Pasha is a commander who never stole a Medinan stone. He secured all the city's people's property and never turned down justice,” he said.
During the first world war, Medina was under siege since 1916, after Shaif Hussain of Mecca revolted against the Ottoman Empire with British forces.
