Researchers hope that city planners and politicians in the areas ruled by the quake will take into account their latest warning and will work quickly to adapt buildings or renew emergency plans.
Before we bury ourselves for fear of increasing the number of earthquakes in 2018, let us try to see how and if the earthquake can be predicted.
Seismologists have attempted to predict earthquakes, but they are failing. Richard Luckett of the British Geological Survey says that even though <x0 when an earthquake occurs is essentially a random event”, scientists like him themselves have not given up hope to experience these natural disasters, broadcast news.
What makes it difficult for seismologists are small changes in the movement of the planet that change everything that often results in making new estimates and testing new theories. Did you know that Earth's rotation slows down for a few milliseconds a day? Although this cannot distinguish in the daily routines of most people, it angers those who have to re-mate the Earth's rotation with perfect accuracy. Well, can you ask what the rotation has to do with earthquakes?
Unfortunately for us, the slow rotation of the earth could result in a blow to major earthquakes in 2018. However, as mentioned earlier, this is not a guaranteed observation, but it is a possible prediction, as mentioned by Roger Bilham of Colorado University and Rebecca Bendick University of Montana in their study published in Geophysic Research Letters earlier this year, followed by news.
Bendick and Bilham came to this conclusion after studying every earthquake since 1900 that recorded more than 7.0 on the magnitude scale. They were surprised to find that every 32 years there has been an increase in the number of large earthquakes corresponding to the apparent slight slowdown of earth's rotation, marked every 5 years.
They blame rapid land changes because of seasonal changes, implying that this may be a problem of chicken or eggs, because they are still studying to find out what affects the other. They try to solve the mystery by trying to study the essence of the planet. The planet has 4 layers of deep layers: a “internal core” of solid iron and nicotine, a “-outset” of iron and liquid niel, “a thick liquid cloak, and, at the top of all, the most familiar. Bilham and Bendick believe that although earthquakes occur only in the choir, this is due to changes in the internal layers.
They use this abnormal behavior to predict an increase in the number of major earthquakes next year. Instead of the 15-20 average, we've been experiencing so far, they claim to testify 25-30 in 2018.
Because of the extremely unpredictable nature of earthquakes, Bilham and Bendick are still working on the narrow list of some of the countries that would carry the burden, but they are not able to do so right now. That is probably why countries like Haiti and Japan have been captured by guards and mourn the deaths of 100,000 and 18,000 people, respectively, when major earthquakes hit.
