Today's birthday of legendary commander Adam Yashhar

He was born on November 28, 1955, in Prekaz, Squirew. He was the third son of Shaban and Zahid, Jashar. He finished technical high school in Skenderaj.

After the disappearance of all Kosovo institutions in 1990, the idea of being organised in a military way gets a new dimension, from the LKP, which still did not operate entirely publicly. On November 3, 1991, a group of activists went to Albania to perform appropriate military exercises and to train for armed warfare.

Serbian secret services track down armed formation, and Serbian police raided his siege and capture. On December 30th 1991, Serbian military expeditions took action to capture the group.

After this clash with Serbian police forces, the entire group of Adem Jashar goes underground until the beginning of the liberation war in Kosovo.

Intensification of the KLA armed shares begins with the September 1997 attack on 12 police stations.

From armed shares against police forces that the KLA carried out, following the addition of systematic violence of Serbian forces through Kosovo, is turned into another phase of a direct match with Serbian forces -- that is, in battle, in late November 1997 -- when numerous Serb police forces are fought in Rezalla.

In this battle, the path is blocked by the heavily armed convoy of Serbian forces, which had launched an attack on the village of Vojnik, where the previous day, masked Serb police patrols had been fired by one of the early KLA fighters, Abedin Regja Sandocani. In this battle, Adem Jashari and other fighters such as Muja Krasniqi, Rexhep Selimi, Sylejman Selimi, Ilaz Kodra, Ilaz Drcgi, etc. This is the first battle and victory of the KLA unit. This battle echoed heavily in public opinion.

Serbian police had long marked the Janshare home. On March 5th 1998, when in the early hours, large Serb police forces were in possession of Prekazin. A point of fire, stationed early at the location of the ammunition factory, which was near the house of the Jasaras, had been reinforced with heavy artillery tools.

The reinforcements of Serbian forces had also come from the direction of Kline, Mitrovica and Glogovac. The attack on Yasar starts about six o'clock in the morning. Almost all family members were in the house. The attack on Jashars and their heroic stand lasts three days: on March 5, 6, and 7, 1998.

This heroic war, in Kosovo's new history, is known as the Age of Kosovo Liberation Army. The image of Adam Yashhar has expressed important thoughts and personalities. Kosovo's first international administrator, Bernar Kouchner, has declared that if there were Nobel Prize for Freedom Sacrifice, he would meet Adam Jashar and his family.

With the decision of former Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdiu, Adem Jashari has been honoured with the title Hero of Kosovo.
