Russia's Ambassador to Serbia, Alexander Cepurin, is claiming that under international laws Kosovo is part of Serbia.
These statements were made in an interview for the Russian newspaper “Sputnik”
For important issues Russia and Serbia have common interests. As for Kosovo, under all international laws and regulations, Kosovo remains part of Serbia, and we support Serbian integrity”, Cepurin said, broadcasts news.net
The main focus in the interview, the Russian ambassador had on statements by senior US official Hoyt Yee, who said Serbia should not sit on two chairs, alluding to the EU and Russia.
Cepurin has said that Yee's statement should not cost much.
According to him, Hoyt Yee's statement has been greatly exaggerated.
A diplomatic visit is by the minister, prime minister or president. Yee's visit cannot be characterised as an official visit, but travel or work trip”, Cepurin ironically said.
The Russian ambassador further claims that the US deputy assistant secretary's position does not support the official position of the state of America.
Cepurin stated that America should not behave as if it were part of the European Union.
The impression is that America is an EU representative, but the situation is not quite clear. The US is outside the European Union. We and many other countries have worked and co-operated for the sake of the EU”, the Russian ambassador said.
Alexander Ceuprin now also spoke of strengthening Russian-Serbian relations, increasing investments, and integrating the Serbian state.
