In the first 10 months of this year, 15 citizens have lost their lives in their jobs. This data was published in Pristina on Tuesday at a conference organised by the “movement, chat” “Social Dialog: How do we include youth in dialogue and what has the KES done in this direction?”, the Voice newspaper writes today.
Brikena Hoxha, from the Kosovar Initiative for Stability, has indicated that from the beginning of the year until now 15 citizens have lost their lives in their jobs. According to her, even after nine years of independence Kosovo remains a country of poverty and great unemployment.
“From 2009 progress reports have stressed the need to improve social-field legislation. The term "modern slave" is the best description of the workers' situation in the private sector, especially in small businesses. We have 15 cases of deaths in the workplace, most of them in the construction sector”, Hoxha said. She has further said the challenge remains the failure to implement the Kolective contract, especially in the private sector.
“I think Kosovo should take three measures to increase employment: the increased commitment of youth to the Union, the support of the state with grants for HINA Startupsı and the drafting of practices that increase young people's engagement”, Hoxha said.
