Krasniqi: Voting count process conditioned to be transparent

Tomorrow officially becomes known who can be the head of Pristina, as counting and results centre on Thursday begins after the runoff, which was held Sunday in 19 Kosovo municipalities.

Co-ordinator in the QNR, Burim Ahmetaj, has told Kosova Prees that the outcome for Pristina will become known tomorrow and for other municipalities, as is Prizren.

He said there are about 1700 conditional votes in Pristina and persons with special needs, while 97 votes in the mail. On the other hand, for Prizren, he has said it has not yet been completed, as it will be known exactly how much votes on bail and with special needs.

And we're going to do all the checks in the database, possible comparisons, and we're going to have the verification report today, and tomorrow we're going to be able to start counting on bail, votes by mail and votes from persons with special needs, that about 12,000 votes is their number. The priorities will give the largest municipality, where votes will be counted on condition it means it will start with the municipality of Pristina and then with other municipalities”, Ahmetaj has said.

Civil Society representatives, who are monitoring the voting number process, demand that the voting counting process become transparent, since the result for Pristina and Prizren is very close.

KDI researcher Albert Krasniqi has told Kosovo that they are conveying the work being done at the Counting and Results Centre in two shifts and so far have not noticed any irregularities, which could be an attempt either to political subjects or someone else to influence the results that have been final.

The parole vote's “is one of the most important acts now due to the narrow result in Pristina and Prizren, especially. It is important that this process be transparent, political parties have their own observers here, and the contests they make them have on the basis of facts and evidence they can present rather than on the basis of speculation they may have. This would damage the integrity of the election process if there were more political statements than presenting facts”, Krasniqi has said.

He added that it is important to have representatives of the media present themselves in real time and in the public when the bail is made.

However, for the request of the LDK and PDK to become the recounting of votes in Pristina and Prizren, Krasniqi has said that if there are no complaints and facts there is no reason to recount the vote.

“Voter recounting decisions are made by the Election Panel for Anxiety and Parashtre and comes on the basis of complaints making political parties. If there isn't a complaint and a statement of evidence, why should there be a recount? So they're unreasonable and more political statements. If these are argued before the Election Panel for Anxiety and Parashtres, then there should be a recount and there is nothing wrong”, he stressed.

Burim Ahmetaj has said that any decision to recount by the CEC will be implemented by the QNR.

KDI's Krasniqi, among other things, has said that since the number of votes, which needs to be counted, is greater than the difference between candidates, then there is always the possibility of a collapse of results.
