Japan, according to Donald Trump, could shoot North Korean missiles in the air with military equipment purchased by the United States.
Responding to journalists' questions at a news conference in Tokyo, the American president said that Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe must receive a large quantity of military equipment from the United States, which will bring security to Japan and new jobs for Americans.
When he makes this purchase, he's gonna blow off Penian's missiles. You'll see”, Trump said.
Abe appeared openly to the White House chief's suggestion and agreed with his comments, that Japan needs to reinforce its defence skills, while careful to clarify that its government always buys weapons from the United States.
The missile defense is something that relies on legitimate co-operation between our two countries. If it's necessary to take down a missile, we'll definitely do something like that”, Abe said.
Given the difficult situation with North Korea, Japanese defence strengthening must be realised according to the chief executive in Tokyo, both at quantitative and in terms of quality.
Two months ago, Trump wrote in “Twitter” that he would allow both Japan and South Korea to purchase highly sophisticated weapons from America. Japan does not have a professional army, but forced by its post-war Constitution is based only on a so-called “self-defense force”, which Abe intends to change.
The American administration head's visit to the country comes at his 11-day tour of Asia, the first of the billionaire in the region as president of the United States.
