Albanians pay northern Serbs' electricity, minister of economic development reacts

Economic Development Minister Valdrin Luka has stressed that since assuming his position, he has voiced disagreement with the illegal burden being done to Kosovo citizens with the destiny of energy not paid by citizens of northern Mitrovica.

Luka has said he is aware that the payment of energy causes loss to energy operators, but does not, according to him, justify the fate of this loss of other citizens, transmit Indescline.

According to Minister Luka, the issue of luck in the north is a political issue that is being addressed at this same level these days.

Since taking office as Minister of Economic Development, I have reacted and expressed my disagreement with the illegal burden being done to Kosovo citizens with the hope of energy not paid by northern Mitrovica citizens, which has been confirmed and called for the suspension of this violation by other institutions in the country. I'm aware that paying energy causes loss to the energy operators, but that doesn't justify the fate of this loss to other citizens.

Now is the time when the tax will be made for the coming year and normally the expense will go away. As far as the Energy Regulatory Office is concerned, it is true that the ZERE has no functional board since May, and we are already in the process of selecting two new members in this institution, which also allows it to make different decisions. Recruiting the two additional members will be realised within December of this year!

As for the northern issue of the country, it is a political issue we are dealing with at this level in these days. Therefore, all together conform to institutional responsibilities, we must find a quick, legitimate and immediate solution!
