Bruce Arena has resigned from the post of National coach of the United States following a major failure in the 2008 2018 World Cup preliminary campaign.
A 2-1 defeat, suffered by Trinidad Tobago, the 99th country in the FIFA ranking, and Panama's victory over Costa Rica brought US elimination without having the possibility of “play-off-8x1>.
This was Bruce Arena's second experience at the beginning of the US, after replacing Jurgen Klinksmann, who was dismissed last November.
During a press paper published by the American Football Federation, among other things, Arena wrote: “This is the biggest damage to the history of this country's football, and now we all have to ask ourselves how to improve the situation. I am unable to repair the damage done and feel guilty for this failure. That makes me leave. The federation should launch new projects with new people”.
