Patriarch Irinej scandal obliges Serbian mothers to bear children

That response comes according to the head of the Serbian National Assembly for Human and Minority Rights Committee, Meho Omerovic, who reacted Wednesday, reports “b92”, broadcast Periscopi.
Omerovic spoke after the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) Patriarch Irinej said that Serbia's <x1-typed women are obliged to give birth to”.
Omerovic recalled that Serbia respects the right to secularism, and added, in a written statement sent to the media Wednesday, that <x0 religious personalityes are free to promote duty based on divine rules”.
“I don't want to debate the divine rules, but there are rules we need to obey Serbia's law and Constitution, as well as the rights and obligations that apply equally to all”, he stressed.
Omerovic then noted that women in Serbia decide for themselves, by their own free will, in accordance with the law whether they want children or not.
His statement also recalls that “Unfortunately, there are women who, because of health, cannot have children”.
This response came after SPC Patriarch Irinej told the Belgrade-based Alo picture that it was our <x0th>deter to restore our nation and recommend to our mothers that they are obliged to bear children, under divine blessing and thus survive history, even though we have suffered as a nation”.
Serbian cabinet minister and head of the Ministerial Body for Gender Equality Zorana Mihajlovic later reacted, saying women should be allowed to have children when they want.
