Michael Kelley, program scientist and staff of NASA for the TC4 monitoring campaign, said: “Scientists have always praised the recognition when an asteroid will make a close approach and pass safely to Earth, because they can make preparations to collect data to characterise and learn as much as possible about it.
The asteroid route has been described as a narrow “loss” by scientists, since, in astronomical terms, it's a hair away.
