Russia's foreign ministry has declared that no one should prevent Serbia from building productive and profitable bilateral relations with Russia.
Official Moscow has reacted to Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Hoyt Brian Yee's statements in Belgrade, praising them as provocations and breaching relations between Serbia and Russia, writes Periscope.
Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Hoyt Brian Yee has made a number of provocative statements, with the aim of undermining Russian-Serbia co-operation, during his visit to Belgrade on October 23rd and 24th”, the Russian Foreign Ministry's response reported.
The American diplomat brutally requested that Belgrade reconsider its co-operation with Russia and focus exclusively on relations with the European Union. Also, with emotional phrases he got involved in the issue of granting immunity and privileges to the Russo-Serbe Humanitarian Centre in Nis.”
Russia reminds the United States that he is not a member of the European Union.
And maybe that's why it's unconscious that EU members are involved in a high scale, both beneficial and cooperative with Russia. No one should prevent Serbia from having equal access to national interest bases”, said in response.
“As far as Russo-Serbe Humanitarian Centre is concerned, Americans are being ignorant of the help it has given to Serbia and other European countries, including the EU and NATO members, to overcome natural and human disasters. Its experts are clearing Serbian terrain even from mines. They have also removed thousands of explosives that were left during the 1999 NATO bombings. During these bombings, uranium ammunition has been used to a high degree”.
We call on our American colleagues not to impose on others dangerous ideological stereotypes that undermine the fundamental stability and international co-operation in the Balkans and Europe in general”, the MJS has concluded. /Periscopi/
