“Slim Hammer, 56, began to feel bad after he ran 500 meters and died in the military hospital,” The Ministry of Health announced.
Marathon was held Sunday in the coastal town of Nabeul to raise funds for the construction of a cancer clinic for children.
Hammer was appointed as minister of health last month after a cabinet reshuffle.
Tunisia's prime minister, Yousef Chahed, said he had lost a brother and a colleague who lost his life doing a humanitarian and noble act.
