Prime Minister Haradinaj stressed NATO's important role in ensuring peace and security, praised peacekeeping force KFOR as an important partner in Kosovo. He said the NATO-backed Kosovo Security Force in every period of its construction based on the highest standards and on the principle of inclusion has fulfilled operational capacity towards transformation in the Armed Force in co-ordination with international partners.
Prime Minister Haradinaj stressed that Kosovo's future lies in NATO and the EU, as well as a UN member state.
Prime Minister Haradinaj stressed that Kosovo has launched a new internal dynamic in the area of rule of law and economic development, but is also committed to fulfilling obligations issued by the Stabilisation and Association Agreement, accelerating the way towards gaining EU membership candidate status. He said it is important to international consolidation of the country, with particular emphasis membership in international organisations, in U NESTO and INTERPOL.
Deputy Secretary General NATO, Jamie Shea, commending Prime Minister Haradinaj for his post, said NATO and Kosovo have a strong connection for many years and stressed the importance of continuing Kosovo's progress on the path towards NATO membership. He said KFOR will continue to be present as much as Kosovo will need, and praised the peacekeeping force as a guarantor of peace in the country.
