Afghan officials say 10 Afghan security forces have been killed after Afghan air force had accidentally dropped a bomb in the southern province of Helmand.
The province's governor, Hayabulah Hayat, has said at least nine police officers have been injured in air strikes.
Hayat announced that the investigation is continuing.
The Afghan aircrafts were struggling to break the Taliban border line in the strategic area”, the governor said.
Gul Agga Muslim, a member of the local district council, has said the victims of the air attack were from Afghan police and intelligence agency.
Defence Minister Dawlat Waziri's spokesman has confirmed the attack, but has offered no more details.
In July, US air strikes had mistakenly killed 16 Afghan police officers, and had injured two others.
