KB: Any shock to “Vita” is blow to local production, farmers and Kosovo economy

The Kosovar Alliance of Business (AKB) today held the media conference, where it expressed great concern over developments that have affected the milk industry “Vita”, one of the most important names of the milk industry in Kosovo.
Shutting down or limiting the activity of such an industry is not only a technical decision that is a direct blow to local production and national economy.
We state that doesn't protect its production, ends up dependent on import. ”
Local production cannot be replaced by foreign products without serious economic and social consequences. Every step weakening this sector weakens Kosovo farmer, domestic worker and the country's economic stability, reports EO, broadcasts Periscope.
In this context we clearly stress:“ ”
Mr. Agim Sahini, Mayor I The GDP clearly stresses that any business operating in the Republic of Kosovo must be subject to control and supervision by competent institutions, in line with legislation in force. Inspections and controls are necessary for ensuring food safety, protecting public health and respecting legal standards, and they should be conducted regularly for all economic operators, without exception.
However, these controls must be realised professionally, impartially, transparently and proportionally, respecting legal procedures and treating all businesses equally, without creating the perception of selective pressure or influence of political or economic interests.
If such actions are the result of possible influences of trade lobbies or import interests, then we should be honest with citizens: the market will not remain indifferent.
Any attempt to replace the economically imposed domestic product with import will face the response of the UN and Kosovo consumers.
The GDP does not call for conflict, but economic awareness. Kosovo consultant has always shown that he supports local production and knows its value.
We ask:
- Instant review of decisions affecting the milk industry;
- institutional protection of local production;
- Full transparency in decision-making;
- Cutting off any practice that creates inequality between local production and import.
Kosovo cannot build a strong economy by weakening its strategic sectors. The milk industry is one of them.
The Kosovo Alliance of Business will continue to be the powerful voice of local producers and the national economy.
There is no stable economy except addiction. ”/Periscope/
