“Coachella” of the Balkans: Like the “festival Sunny Hill” put Kosovo on a global travel map

The Sunny Hill Festival has become one of the most attractive summer attractions of Southeast Europe, drawing music fans from about 60 countries to Pristina for the 2026 edition, held from July 31st to August 2nd. A city once known mainly for its post-war history is already full of wine, as international visitors plan their trips around the festival dates.
During the festival, hotels throughout Pristina fill about 9950% of their capacity, while in the rest of Kosovo the reservations reach about 96%. Short-term accommodations, restaurants, cafes and taxi services function at full capacity, while many international visitors extend their stay up to two weeks to explore the wider region by turning a three-day event into a tourist season that lasts several weeks.
Independent media have made the clear comparison: Sonny Hill is doing for a state what “Coachella” meant a desert city. Over the course of three days, with the programme extending to four stages, the festival welcomes over 100,000 visitors and is helping Pristina to be recognised as a European capital, affordable and with a warm and authentic hospitality -- a special experience for travelers who choose to move beyond the frameworks of ordinary destinations.
The 2026 edition brings a combination of the world's greatest names, Katy Perry, Keinemusik, Martin Garrix and a rich list of electronic music artists, including Seth Troxler, Carlita and Pawsa é along with local artists for a local experience. For most visitors, the festival is a reason to visit Kosovo, while the country itself is a reason to stay longer.

“We always wanted Sunny Hill to be a reason for the world to come and visit Kosovo,” says festival co-founder Dukagjin Lipa. “People come for music and leave falling in love with the country, with food, energy and hospitality. This is the most valuable thing a festival can donate to a country”.
Three-day regular tickets and VIP tickets are already on sale. Given the high international demand and accommodation capacities, organisers recommend that the ticket and accommodation booking take place early.
