Kosovo today votes

Kosovo today holds early parliamentary elections, announced after the political forces' failure to elect the country's new president.
These are the third elections for the Kosovo Assembly within 16 months, following those on February 9th 2025 and the early elections on December 28th last year.
The Central Election Commission, under increased security and follow-up measures of the Kosovo Police, has distributed electoral material to municipal counting centres. Talks, final voter lists and election seals will be preserved by police teams until the opening of the deployments.
According to CEC data, a total of 1,778,300 ballots have been printed for the election process. Of them, 1,605,000 are destined for regular voting -- 19,450 for parole voting -- 13,500 as reserve and 3,500 for individual-need voters.
The right to vote in these elections is 2,092,174 citizens, or 15,884 more compared to the last parliamentary elections held on December 28th.
To ensure the integrity of the election process, the State Chief Prosecutor's Office has committed over 100 prosecutors and prosecutorial system officials, who will monitor the process in all municipalities in the country until its completion.
The State Prosecutor has invited citizens, political subjects and various organisations to report every suspected case of manipulation or misuse of the vote.
Meanwhile, Kosovo police have finalised the operational plan for the management of elections, envisioning the commitment of a considerable number of police officials, mainly from public order units, as well as, according to the need, from other operational profiles.
Police have indicated that they intend to secure a safe and secure environment for citizens, guaranteeing order and public security before, during and after the election process, as well as protecting polling stations, municipal depots and the Counting and Results Centre. /Periscope
