Hargrees: Kosovo must convince allies that it is ready for NATO and the EU

Kosovo must prove by works that it is ready for advancing its Euro-Atlantic aspirations and strengthening relations with international partners. So has United Kingdom Ambassador to Kosovo Jonathan Hargrees, in an interview where he spoke of Allied expectations of Kosovo and its path towards integration.
According to the British ambassador, London strongly supports Kosovo in its intentions of approaching NATO, the European Union and other international organisations, but has stressed that progress is not guaranteed.
The United Kingdom wants to see Kosovo succeed as a modern European state and strongly supports its ambition to deepen ties with NATO, the European Union and other international organisations.
But this progress is not automatic. Kosovo must convince the allies that it is ready. This depends on three things: reliable democracy, with free, fair and inclusive elections; functional institutions, including a stable government capable of interparty compromise; and a multiethnic state providing equal treatment for all communities”, Hargreaves told IndexOnline.
He added that under current international circumstances, Kosovo partners are looking for states capable of making decisions and acting effectively.
“at a time of broader global pressures, Kosovo partners are seeking reliable and effective allies. Kosovo may be one of them, but should show that it can make decisions and move ahead of”, the British ambassador said.
Hargrees stressed that the United Kingdom remains committed to Kosovo's security and sovereignty, underlining the importance of strengthening institutions and political stability to advance the country's international position as I add that the current driver risks weakening Kosovo's credibility and enabling others to undermine its stability and stability.
Kosovo should be proud of its democratic history. Even the UK is proud to have been alongside Kosovo on this road. But the current stalemate risks weakening Kosovo's credibility and enabling others to undermine its stability and stability”, the British ambassador has said.
