Bill Gates scores, here's the four professions that will survive Artificial Intelligence.

Bill Gates adds a fourth profession that, according to him, will survive Artificial Intelligence.
The rapid growth of Artificial Intelligence (IA) is changing the global labour market and raising questions about the future of many professions. However, Microsoft cofounder Bill Gates believes some areas will remain necessary even in the era of automation. Following earlier statements that programmers, biologists and energy sector employees will continue to have a key role, Gates has now added a fourth category to the list of professions that, according to him, will not be replaced by cars: professional athletes.
During an interview on Jimmy Fallon's show, he said that sports will remain a reserved event for people. You know, like baseball. We would not like to see computers playing baseball”, Gates said, implying that sports competitions will continue to rely on human skills and competition. However, he gave an answer that has prompted debate when asked whether people will continue to be needed in most professions. “Not for most things we will decide,” he said, adding that goods production, transport and food cultivation can be widely automated in the future.
Meanwhile, the influence of Artificial Intelligence on the job market is becoming increasingly visible. According to a study published in 2025 by Microsoft, many professions have a high overlap with the skills of IA systems, which means that a considerable part of their duties can be carried out by automated means.
Among the professions most exposed to this transformation are translators and interpreters, historians, mathematicians, text editors, automatic code generation programmers, writers, statistical analysis assistants, commercial representatives, technical writers and journalists. However, researchers stress that this does not necessarily mean that these professions will disappear, but that Artificial Intelligence is expected to take over some of their duties and change the way these jobs are exercised.
IA's greatest overlap with skills are:
translator and interpreter (9.8%)
Historian (91%)
Mathematics (91%)
Text editors (91%)
Automatic code generater (90%)
Writers and Word Image (85%)
Statistical analysis assistant (85%)
Salers and commercial representatives (84%)
Tech writers (83%)
Reporters (81%)
