DnV: 1.6% of seats in Kosovo opened late

Democracy in Action has held its first media conference regarding the voting process in parliamentary elections, which are being held today in Kosovo.
Ismet Kryeziu from DnV said that according to data from the field, 1.6% of the polling has been opened late.
We recall that today, except for the local mission of Democracy in Action, we have no other international mission in monitoring this process. This makes both our responsibility and our commitment to this process even more important. At this early stage, our observers have reported some findings from the process of opening the locations. In the territory of the Republic of Kosovo, there are a total of 2550 seats, 2498 of these are fair even 52 on condition. According to ground data, 1.6% of the seats have been opened late, even due to the lack of commissioners. In some cases delays in the opening are also related to the lack of voting booths”, he stated.
“to 2% of locations has had problems operating cameras or in the way cameras are set, which could affect the secret of the vote. It is also noteworthy that in 16% of the deployments, there are no members of the commission, commissioners at these” locations, Kryeziu said.
Kryeziu said promotional materials of political parties have been found near polling stations.
The approach to polling and surrounding polling stations should each citizen have equal access to enable them to exercise their right to vote. For many disabled people, however, exercising that right continues to be accompanied by obstacles. According to our observers, about 1/5 or 19% of polling stations in Kosovo still do not provide the infrastructure needed for easy access, limiting their full participation in the democratic process. While in environments outside polling stations, material of subjects, promotional materials of political subjects has been encountered, since electoral regulations forbid their deployment within the 100m perimeter,” said Kryeziu. /Periscope
