Trump for Cuba: We will not tolerate an isolated state that houses military operations

Donald Trump has declared that the United States “will not tolerate an isolated and hostile state” like Cuba, accusing Havana of allowing military activities, spying and foreign terrorists very close to American territory.
Speaking of the situation in Cuba, Trump said Washington would not stop until the Cuban people reach “lirine”.
“The U.S. will not tolerate an isolated state that hosts military operations, spying and terrorist only 90 miles from American territory. We will not calm down until the people of Cuba have freedom”, he said.
His statements come at a moment when the US administration has stepped up diplomatic and economic pressure on Cuba, including tough stances by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who has proposed a new “relations with the Cuban people and sharply criticised Havana's government for the economic crisis in the country.
Rubio has accused military structures controlling the Cuban economy of dominate most major sectors and profiting at the expense of the population, while stressing that American aid should go directly to citizens and not through regime-related institutions.
According to him, the current situation in Cuba is the result of ill-governance rather than lack of resources, while the US has also warned further severity of sanctions on Havana.
The US administration continues to take a firm stand against Cuba, amid the deepening economic crisis on the island and increasing social discontent. /Panorama
