Sexual harassment by the school principal, Treating Priorities

The Ministry of Education and Science has reacted to the reported case in the Gjakova municipality for sexual harassment by the director of an educational institution, expressing deep concern.
In the official communiqué it becomes known that immediately after receiving information on the case, the Education Inspectorate has contacted the Kosovo Police and the Gjakova Municipal Education Directorate, aimed at providing relevant information on the institutional actions undertaken.
According to data accepted by municipal authorities, the disciplinary Commission has made a decision to suspend the director from the labour relationship.
The ministry stresses that any form of sexual harassment, violence and misuse of official position in educational institutions is unacceptable and punishable.
It also points out that educational institutions should be safe and protective environments for every child and student, while any alleged action that violates the integrity and dignity of minors should be seriously treated by competent organs.
MAS expects the case to be handled with priority, professionalism and in full compliance with legislation in force, until a final decision, guaranteeing the integrity and dignity of students and confidence in public institutions.
The ministry has announced that it will continue to convey developments regarding the case and provide institutional support within its competencies.
