Sali Berisha's statements to Ambassador Gonzato reacts to European Union

A union spokesman responded to personal attacks against EU Ambassador Silvio Gonzato on Europe Day. The EU writes it condemns personal attacks, while adding that they are unacceptable.

“Such statements are unacceptable. The EU strongly condemns the personal attacks made on Europe Day against the European Union's Ambassador to Albania. The EU ambassador has acted at any time with full professionalism and integrity. We have full confidence in him and his work”, it says in their response.

A day after DP leader Sali Berisha attacked the EU ambassador to Albania, Silvio Gonzato, his European colleagues have also reacted.

In a joint statement, EU ambassadors have stood up for Gonzato, expressing loyalty to his professionalism.

On Europe Day, we stand together in support of the EU Ambassador and his team, and reaffirm our full confidence in professionalism, integrity and their dedicated service”, it is said in their response.

DP leader Sali Berisha gave a comment to Ambassador Gonzato during his conversation with citizens on social networks the day before.

“As far as the current ambassador is concerned, I have expressed: this behaves like it was Rama's ambassador, as this gentleman, allegedly, has broadcast the most false lies about the opposition in Brussels, as if we are not about integration. Not to say much more.

We are the ones who say things openly and he has tried in many ways to present the opposition as not oriented towards integration, but has failed. Gonzato has completely unified with Eddie Rama. I will tell European partners the truth and only the truth”, Berisha said. /tch/
